Dealing with too Much Rain – Tip
Dealing with too much Rain
From last year’s Sahara-like conditions this season has proven worthy of an arc. It has certainly given many plants an initial boost but the continued moisture can cause real problems for your plants. Over saturated soil becomes compacted, pushing out any oxygen and damaging root health. Consider aerating with a core aerator and pulling mulch away from the base of plants allowing the water to evaporate more quickly. Stay out of the mud as much as possible as traipsing about your garden will only further compact the soil. Keep an eye out for water loving bugs like slugs or fungal diseases which also love damp conditions. Quick response to any budding pest problems will be integral as they will quickly spiral in these conditions.
